Life and Death Ceremonies
Anywhere the tenderness others itself, life often seems to assemble in threat about its nest. This is why all the major thresholds in human life have blessings structures around them in the religious traditions: birth, initiation, illness, marriage, and death. There is a fragility and pathos in light when darkness encircles it. – John O’Donohue, Eternal Echoes.
Life ceremonies include rituals which support us to experience the transitions in our life and include:
- Birth, naming, entering adolescence, coming of age, life partnering, menopause, death
- Seasonal cycles, moving house, starting a new venture, ending an old one, community rituals of reconciliation, forgiveness, welcome, homecoming and farewell
I conduct life and death ceremonies in the Illawarra and Greater Sydney region.
